"A huge pain in the,,," 2010-01-17

This stroller was lent to me by a family member who's children have outgrown it so luckily, I have not had to spend any money to purchase it. If I were to have purchased it however, I would not have paid more than 400 dollars for it at the absolute most. When my first child was born I purchased a full sized stroller (Peg Perego Uno), so I feel like I had another stroller to compare the Phil&Ted's general functionality with.

While the stacked seats are a wonderful concept, this stroller has some serious flaws that could be greatly improved.

First, I must say that while I fully expect a double stroller to be heavy, this is is something else entirely. The weight combined with the fact that the stroller folds into an incredibly awkward shape makes it extraordinarily difficult to lift and load/unload into any vehichle. Additionally, as other reviewers have already mentioned, this stroller is not intuitive. Closing it up and looking for the grommets to snap it shut is rediculous. I didn't even know that this could be done until I searched the users manual for this very reason. Fastening the stroller shut shouldn't be that difficult quite honestly.

Secondly, I must say that when using the stroller in the infant+toddler mode (seat attached on top, stroller seat reclined all the way), it is incredibly difficult/almost impossible to get the baby in and out. A simple zipper would have made the world of difference as it would have allowed for a larger openening and therefore made it easier to slide or manoeuvre the baby in and out of the bassinett-like compartment. Right now, this mode is next to useless as you cannot tend to the infant should he or she start to cry. Taking the toddler out of the top seat is not an option either as it leaves you have no hands free to tend to your infant.

Finally, I have to mention that like some other reviewers, I too found the stroller to be difficult to steer. You need to have a firm grasp with both hands. (I suppose this may have something to do with the amount of weight that it's carrying)

All in all this stroller does offer the many benefits of not having to push around a traditional tandem stroller. Unfortunately however, the design leaves a lot to be desired and as it currently stands, I dread using it for the reasons I mentioned above. It simply isn't comfortable or the least bit enjoyable.

"We love our Phil and Ted Double." 2009-08-17
By Joel Augustine (Georgia)
We purchased our Phil and Ted double kit in Graffiti Red from another website, but we love it all the same.

We use it with our almost 5 y.o. and 2 y.o. We are always going for long walks either around the mall or at the zoo so we needed something that both children could take a break in. This works perfectly. When only one child is using the stroller we use the back seat to hold our bags. It's a smooth ride, folds easily and the seats are big enough for both kids.

It does have its cons, though they really aren't that bad to us. You can't recline the top seat if there is a kid in the back, if the kid in the front gets out you have to hold the stroller steady so it won't tip or just move the back kid to the front. There is no cupholders (though you can buy them), the bar for the back seat is a bit low. WhenI try to recline the back seat, my son's head is right line with the bar. I love that there is a strap for the kids to hold on to when they are walking. I love the 5 pt. I love it's not very wide. I love I can make it a single or a double. I love I can lock the wheel or let it turn. The basket is enough space for my son to put his feet and for me to put my pocket book down there.

When I first saw these strollers I thought the bottom seat was a bad idea, the kid has no view, but my son really loves it down there.

We bought this stroller to use at Disney and around Orlando when we go on vacation this fall. We haven't gone yet, but the stroller has been well worth the money to us and has been used so much. We always get compliments on what a great stroller it is. I am always letting other parents push it with the kids in it since it's so smooth and they are curious.

Even with it's few cons, we are extremely happy with this stroller.

 "So far so good..." 2009-06-12

We are expecting our first child...but we are planning on having two close together. So we decided to invest in one stroller that would serve us for both now and the future.

We took everything out of the box and assembly went quick and easy. There were a few weird things...but if we had read the directions to start off we would have gotten it on the first try. But other than that, we had everything set up ready to go in about 15 mins. As long as you are semi-intelligent putting this together should be no problem.

The turning capability of this stroller is great. We've pushed it around in the house and it maneuvers very well around our small house, which is good news for when we will be out in stores, etc.

It looks very cool, that's for sure. :)

When we ordered it we had found a special deal where we got a free kit to turn the double seat into a bouncer. So in the meantime with just one little one, we have a nice bouncer. This assembly was also very easy.

Other than that, we can't comment much on the use of the items. Our baby is yet to arrive. We will update this review when we have put it to some good use.

"Love the stroller hate the customer support" 2009-06-05

Very good well built stroller. Have had it for 18 months, however beware when buying this stroller. Replacement parts are almost impossible to get and buying another 400 dollar stroller is not a good option. My front wheel broke and I have been unable to reach anyone at the numbers provided on the website. There also does not seem to be any online alternative to order new parts.

 "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!" 2009-04-07
By Jeni (TX)
I purchased this stroller when I was pregnant with my second child. I thought this would be perfect...I could put my toddler in the front and the new baby in the back. Once the baby was born and I did this, she would cry non stop and made stroller trips horrible. Also, when my son wasn't in the stroller, there was no weight to weigh it down causing it to jump and vibrate all around. The handle bar would move around all the time....the list goes on and on.

I had previously owned a single BOB stroller and knew how incredible they are so I put the Phil and Ted on Craig's List. It took forever for me to sell it, but once I did I quickly purchased the Double BOB. It is the best stroller in the world and well worth the money. Don't make the same mistake I did....buy the BOB!!!!!!!!!!
