We just purchased the newer model by Eddie Bauer's parent company Safety 1st. I would recommend buying the newer model, but this item isn't on Amazon (but it IS at Babies R Us). The vibrations are great, the sound quality is impressive, and it's soft! Ours reclines, and is very useful for daytime naps around the home (and at grandma's). I also love the netting for indoor use as we have a dog who LOVES the baby. I feel more comfortable looking away to do the dishes with the netting up because I know the dog can't lick the baby to death :)

I had this for both of my kids and thought it was a good product. My daughter especially loved the vibrations and nature sounds and slept in it well for catnaps as a newborn. My son was a very large baby, so he outgrew this product fast due to the containment where his feet were. I did like having this product in the summer/fall because I could take my July/summer baby outside with me and he was protected by the screen/netting so no bugs or even light breezes bothered him and we could both still get fresh air. It wasn't useful in that way for my daughter as she was born in February. I would recommend buying this (if you can get a deal on it) for a spring/summer baby so you can use it outdoors and take advantage of all of its features. If you have a fall/winter baby, I would invest in something more open and that does not limit the baby's length since the enclosing features are not necessary. I have had friends say that the enclosing features are nice if you have a dog/pet or even older siblings that like to look in on the baby a lot, so perhaps it would be useful for that too.

I only have one complaint about this product, my son outgrew it fast. Some of the bouncer seats don't have the peice by the feet, that limits the time it can be used. My son was always long, so he couldn't use this product for very long. He like the vibration to be turned on, it soothed him sometimes if he was fussy. He liked the little toys that are over head, and about the time he outgrew it, he was starting to reach for them and play with the bear because it jingles. It collapses flat for storage or travel, which is very convenient.

I bought this because I have remembered that in the past my first two babies liked being rocked to sleep and when I would get them to sleep as soon as I would lay them in bed they would immediately wake up and start screaming! So I got this hoping that the rocking motion would keep the baby asleep when I put them in there. And sure enough it worked like a charm. The biggest issue I had was that it did not come with an AC adapter option. You have to use batteries. Do not use regular batteries; it eats them! Get a charger and rechargable batteries. I suggest two sets. One set to use and the others to have when they run out of juice and thus the others are charging while you are running the others down.



Anyways I used it for my baby until she was about 6 months old. At which point she could climb out of it and it became unsafe. By this time I was able to switch her to sleep in a bed with no problem. The speeds were fine for my uses. I used it not to put them to sleep but instead to keep them that way after I'd rocked them to sleep. If it wasn't for the battery issues I would give it 5 stars. I will say this...it was a life saver! In the past I would spend an hour getting my previous two children to bed at night. But with this it was soooo much easier.

I bought this for my 2nd child to sleep in. She wouldn't sleep in her crib or bassinet and liked sleeping in her car seat. This was perfect! My 3rd child sleeps in this as well. I put it right beside my bed. The motions puts her right to sleep. The product itself is great, but I don't really know if it's worth the price.

This chair is great! I had gotten it a bit cheaper at the time off amazon but it's worth any price. It is SO quiet, and the 360 spin of the chair makes for rocking in any position. Our daughter loves this thing, I wish they would have had this when our son was born. The only down fall is she prefers to sleep in the chair rather than her crib.... but she is only a month old so that may change. The little toys are cute too, they don't make any noise but sure enough baby will bat at them:) I would recommend this to a friend for sure!

After reading all these great reviews, I made this buy. This product did nothing for either of my babies-- in fact it made them fuss, which was not their normal behavior. It did not move fast enough at all! The swing is far superior, so I don't get the point of having this. It takes up too much room as well. If it moved a lot faster or vibrated, it might be useful, but I wouldn't recommend this at all.

I feel that for my 4th child I have a better idea about what I really need. I felt after borrowing a seat for my last 2 children that I needed to buy my own (what I had purchased previously had either broken or the baby didn't like it).



I read a lot of reviews and decided to go with this glider. I am so happy that it turned out to be a good choice. The way it is shaped is nice and cozy feeling to the baby... the next best thing to being held. It really does soothe him. The batteries last a long time... we have used this a ton in the last three weeks and have not had to change batteries.



The music variety makes it so it is not annoying.



It also is a very safe with a base that stays put and straps that adjust to fit the baby. It also sits at just the right angle so that an infant is sitting enough to be able to look around a little, but not far forward enough to fall forward (like the swings I have tried... which is so annoying and unsafe!).



I think it also has good resale value through avenues like Craigslist and local classifieds.

 "AWFUL noise!!!" 2009-11-16

The people who complain about the noise are absolutely right. Which is sad, because in every other respect, this is a great swing. It actually saddens me to have to send this back, but the constant grinding "can opener" croaking sound is so loud it actually drowns out the recorded "soothing" sounds that come with it. I called Graco to ask for a new tower unit, I even played the sound for them over the phone, and they said that this was typical and not an issue with the unit. They very nicely offered to send me a new tower unit, but said that the new one would make the exact same noise. So it seems that they've decided this is what it's supposed to sound like.



UPDATE: I actually called Graco to complain and the second time I was told that the noise was NOT typical. They are sending me a replacement tower unit.

Seriously, this swing is fantastic. Not every baby loves a swing at all times, so don't be discouraged if your child cries the first time he/she is put into a new swing (or a new anything for that matter). But, if you're going to buy a swing, this is the one. I keep this swing in our back room near where the back door enters into the house. When I come in from the car with a sleeping baby in her car seat, I just pop the car seat onto the swing base and she continues to snooze away while I unload/put away groceries, etc. It's awesome! I've also taken the swing seat off the swing base and just used it as a vibrating seat for her to sit in while watching me cook, etc. She sleeps so well in it.



And as for the complaints about the noise of the motor - are you serious? I actually find it comforting to hear the motor going and I know that the swing is working without having to see it. It's not a noise loud enough to keep a baby awake...in fact I think she finds that noise as comforting as any of the songs/nature sounds on the swing anyway!



This swing was easier to put together than we could have imagined, it is SO convenient with the vibrating seat/car seat options, and my daughter loves every bit of it now...we just started using the toy bar w/ mirror and she is ALL smiles!

Like many others here have stated its hit and miss as to whether or not you get a good tower on the first try. I called Graco and they sent a new tower to replace the faulty original but this one is still too noisy to have in the same room as your television. The quality of the speaker is not that great so playing music from your ipod really doesnt sound that great, and how many will actually use that feature anyway. In hindsight I would save the money and opt for something a little cheaper.

After reading a lot of reviews on this product, we decided to buy this item when I was 8 months pregnant. Now that our son is almost seven months, it's a good time to write a review. I do think it's an awesome product.



On the specifics of this swing (pros/cons) I thought the one review by Carolyn Bracey titled "A great swing with lots of bells and whistles makes for a long review!" was 100% right on. I want to note, we never heard any loud, croaking noises from this swing. Only a very mild motor-like sound which seems very, very normal to me.



Presently, we use this swing for our son's naps. During the day when he looks tired, before he falls asleep, I put him in the swing. Most of the time, he will fight it by kicking and screaming while in the swing. This can last from 5-15 minutes before falling asleep (so the swing has held up!). This is where the toy bar has become so, so useful. I use the toy bar to keep him locked down vs. the straps which take too long with a fighting baby boy. I use the number four speed and the Ipod option (he has a set of lullabies I always use which means "time to sleep"). The sound quality is excellent. He generally naps for about 45-60 minutes (which is how long he consistently naps for now).



When we brought him home from the hospital, he was a good sleeper so he slept anywhere, but especially good in the swing. Back then, we used the number 2-3 speed. However, I thought the three positions of the seat were still not horizontal enough for a newborn so, we place the swing in a horizontal position (non-snapped in position) which worked great.



There was a period of 1-2 months whereby we didn't use the swing at all because our son would only fall asleep nursing so he slept on our bed or couch. After he snapped out of that stage, we went back to the swing and it's been amazing. So, do not be discouraged if your child goes through a non-swing stage! When we rediscovered the swing again, we were so, so happy and have concluded it's so worth the money we spent.
