 "Well-Designed, Smooth Riding Stroller" 2010-02-17
By J. Hawk (San Francisco, CA)
We got this before our daughter was born, based on research and reviews. She's now 8 months old, and she, her daddy and I all love it still.

We live in a semi-urban, neighborhoody area (Cambridge, MA). The sidewalks are often in bad shape due to the extreme winter weather. For that matter, in the winter, they are often partially covered with snow and muck despite the fact they get shoveled. This is a non-issue for this stroller. The ride is unbelievably smooth. The push is effortless. It turns "on a dime." I really can't emphasize enough how fabulously smooth and easy to push it is. I've been trying out a lot of Maclaren-Quest-type luxe travel strollers lately, and I'm invariably disappointed in the push/ride because I'm so spoiled by this Mountain Buggy.

The handlebar adjusts, which is a necessity if you ask me. I've never hit my foot on the back (I'm 5'7), nor has my 6-foot-tall husband. This is very important to me. I tried some other strollers where this happened, and it's unacceptably annoying. I can't believe anyone would put up with that, especially if they do a lot of walking with the stroller. Not an issue with the Urban Single.

It has a huge storage basket. I take it down about half a mile to the grocery store, load it down with groceries, then push it back uphill on the bumpy sidewalks, and it's easier than pushing our souped-up umbrella stroller (a Britax Blink) with nothing in it but the baby. In addition to the storage basket, there are some handy pockets on the back of the basket, one with a zipper. I use these all the time.

We've also taken our beloved Mountain Buggy hiking on fire roads and it's no problem. You can lock the front wheel in place for this or for jogging. Fabulous.

Yes, there are a few drawbacks, but these were easy compromises for me:

No cup holder. I don't want a cup holder, because I much prefer the Sunshine Kids attachable one. It has loads of room for wallet, phone, kleenex, etc, a little zipper pocket inside, and TWO cup holders. No problem.

Sunshade could be bigger. This one does sort of bother me. If this stroller had a large sunshade you could ratchet down in front of baby when the sun is low on the horizon, it would approach complete perfection.

Except that, the last thing is that it is quite large. You feel a little obtrusive taking it into restaurants, but I do it anyway and try to stay out of the way and be courteous. In a bigger city, this stroller would probably be simply too large for everyday use. From the research I've done, it seems you can't get a narrow profile stroller that has all the things this Urban Single (same as Urban Jungle, for the record, according to the company) has. Although, I'm intrigued with the new Mountain Buggy "Swift." It looks like simply a mini-Urban Jungle!

In short, I'm a huge fan of the Urban Single. I feel like the company really thought about what parents need and what is troublesome for them in a stroller. If its fabulous features are the ones that are important to you, and its few drawbacks are things you can compromise on or don't care about, you will be very, very happy with this stroller.

"Time tested, and loving it" 2009-09-02
By Li Lily Hsu (Germany)
We love our Mountain Buggy Single Stroller too. We are new parents and my sister recommended it to us. If I had to list my favorite characteristics, they would be (1) very versatile handling, even with a wagon full with baby and groceries, you can manouver tight corners with one hand (2) easy adjustments, the seat is reclineable and a comfortable place to sleep, even for our picky little sleeper, the adjustable handle bar is not to be underappreciated, and the storm cover is easy to put on and take off (3) very compact, we had a very small call before, and with one manouver the wagon collapses into a manageable form, the wheels are easily removable and allowed the buggy to fit even into our tiny car (4) lots of cargo space, (5) air tires, allows us to drive on cobbles stone as well as bumpy hiking trails. The only minor drawback is not the buggy itself, rather the carrycot. It became too small for our baby too soon, at 12-14 weeks, it became too narrow for him. I've seen carrycots for other wagons, that allow the infant to lay on his tummy and look forward. It would be nice if Mountain Buggy developed a carrycot with an adjustable front or back wall. All in all though, we are very content with our Mountain buggy. My husband tends to be rough with tools and equipment, but the mountain buggy still holds up well, despite getting thrown around sometims. :-)

"One of the best buy for your money!" 2009-08-04
By K. Rogers (The O.C., CA)
I bought my mountain buggy urban (single) back in 2006 for my first child after extensive research online and through ready baby bargains book. What I love about this stroller is how easy it is to handle. I can push and manuver tight areas one handed. My 3 year old son was able to push the stroller himself at 2 years of age thanks to the adjustable handle bar. At 14 pounds, it still easy to pick up and put into the car. It compacts down with just one release at the front of the stroller (which requires you to use both your index fingers). With the rubber tires and shocks, my children never woke up while they were in it, even when I went off the paved road onto dirt or grass. I also purchased the peg perego car seat adapter which is so easy to use. My 12 week old daughter now mainly uses the stroller, but when my son wants in, I just remove the adapter quickly and he climbs in! On of the best features is that you can lock the front wheel and make it into a jogging stroller. This is the only stroller I have bought and have gotten the most use out of it. You'll never need to buy mutiple strollers, just this one. It's a great price at around $400 considering how many strollers are also now in the same price range.

"Love it! But not for Maclaren Volos..." 2010-01-13
By krystav (Portland, OR)
I absolutely love this! It has kept my baby warm and cozy on many cold and/or rainy days.

I took the advice of some other nice contributor and never bothered getting the smaller size which many seem to outgrow fast. My son has used the toddler size since his youngest days and having the extra room on the bottom is no big deal.

It does not, however, fit to our Maclaren Volo stroller. The top of the Bundle Me has a sleeve that slides over the top of the seat's back to keep it in place. Since on the Volo the seats back attaches to the frame at the very top there is no way to slide the sleeve over it. We had to order the universal Maclaren footmuff instead, which is a shame because I find this JJ Cole product to be FAR superior. The Bundle Me materials are much nicer - the inner lining is more plush and the outer lining is water resistant and seems more dirt resistant as well. It also is more attractive and the styling seems to compliment a wider scope of strollers (where as the Maclaren footmuff looks nice on a Maclaren stroller but ugly on the jogging stroller, for instance).

 "Worked perfectly!" 2010-01-11

I ordered this for a trip into cold weather. It fit great in the Graco stroller and did the trick - keeping my little one nice and warm when the temperatures where in the teens.

 "My daughter loves this!" 2010-01-07

We use this all the time on walks when it is cold outside. My daughter really likes snuggling in it when we are on walks. It also keeps her VERY warm.

"warm but doesnt look it" 2010-01-07
By Vandana Tivary
I was frankly a little let down when I opened the box. i was hoping it would be a bit bulkier looking as it didnt look like it would be warm enough in the windy city. I was totally wrong as my 17 month old was warm as a oven when I took her out after a 2 mile walk. And it is truly water-proof. However, I dont like the flap in the front as it keeps flapping back into her face and there is nothing to hold it down. In spite of that, I would buy it again!
