 "Not so sure- is it even safe?" 2009-09-29

I just started using this and am worried about its safety. We have high ceilings and modern, metal molding around our doorway. The latch that affixes this contraption to the doorway only has one setting to tighten it. I worried it was not locked tight enough. Yesterday I was lifting my son out of it and the latch un-clipped itself, falling to the ground and coming inches from hitting his head. I don't know if this is because my doorway is not standard so will not condemn it totally. It does look really cool, but for the extra money (beyond the standard Fisher Price models) I'd expect to get not just a cooler product, but a safer one too. I am going to call Combi and ask them to take this back. I'd also purchased a vibrating Combi bouncer that we gave away because the baby hated it. After buying two Combi products I am done with them.

My 6 month old is just now beginning to love this during car rides. He coos at it & looks at himself in the mirror. I keep it hanging on top of the car seat handle or slip it down to the side so my son doesn't always have to look up to see it. I would have definitely given this portable mobile 5 stars if it weren't for the music which is WAY too loud and annoying, I can't believe the volume is that loud on an infant toy, he would never fall asleep if I ever kept it on. Thank goodness there's an on/off button, so I never keep the music on at all. The butterflies don't turn around like a regular mobile but the car movement makes them flutter around and there's a mirror for them to look at themselves in. My son enjoys this toy enough without the music anyway. The butterflies are colorful, cute and appealing to my baby....so 4 out of 5 stars from this mom.

This may very well be one of the best playmats we've come across! The surface is covered with different activities to stimulate baby's senses. Crinkle paper waits to be discovered in the pink and red balloons and orange patches. Squeakers wait to be pushed in the yummy soft heart and purple balloon. Mint green loops wait to be pulled. A small foil mirror awaits baby's curious gaze. And that's just for tummy time! When baby wants to be on her back let her try to grasp one of the four removable toys. A heart book number 2 and squeaking cake hang tantalizingly from the fabric-covered arch. We love the bright saturated colors and thoughtful activities for non-mobile babies. We're also big fans of the variety of activities and textures on the mats surface and the ultra thick padding in the mat. That it is machine washable is a big big plus! Made of mixed cotton/polyester fabrics with foam filling. Wash in cold water and hang dry or tumble dry on coolest lowest setting. Hanging toys are attached via small pads of velcro. Can be folded in half with arches attached. Arches remove via a hidden plastic snap when it's time to wash the mat.

I really loved this playmat.... it is much thicker and more plush than any other I have felt. Each of the little animals on the mat has a sensory feature (one squeaks, the rabbit has a crinkly ear, there is a wooden ring attached to one, and there is a mirror on one). It is SO soft and feels really nice and like great quality.



Unfortunately, here are the cons:

-The arches that go over top are held up by tucking the large flower-shaped end pieces into the flaps on the corner of the mat. It works once you've got all 4 corners tucked in, but as soon as you pick it up to move it (even just a couple of feet) inevitably at least 1 of the flower-shaped end pieces pops out of the corner flap it was tucked into, requiring you to set it up again. Not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.



-My major complaint is that the yellow arch on mine broke today :*(..... it is completely snapped inside so it arches 2/3 of the way and then just flops down all broken-like. My 3 year old daughter somehow managed to completely snap whatever material it is inside of the soft yellow velour fabric that covers the piece. Before she broke it it was often somewhat askew, hard to keep the yellow & green arches perfectly rounded and connected in the middle the way they are supposed to be- there's just a little strip of fabric with a square of velcro on one of the arches so you can wrap it around the other one to connect the two- not ideal.



In all, it'll be a great tummy time mat but the arches and dangling toys will not be usable for my baby. She is only a month old, so she never got to enjoy playing with the stuff that hangs from the arches before the piece broke. Bummer. If this weren't such an expensive item it wouldn't be a big deal- but this is not cheap and supposed to be high quality, so I'm pretty disappointed that mine is broken.

I love this stroller--it has all the accessories that you'll ever need already in the box. In particular, I love the sunscreen/bug net that provides great protection for the baby. I've had it two months now and the only problem I've had is that I broke the canopy. I'm not sure what happened, but Zooper is repairing it for me.



Pros:

VERY lightweight. I am not strong at all, so I needed something lightweight to lift in and out of the car. This is it.

Easy to open and close.

Stands upright on its own when closed.

We don't kick the back when walking (I'm 5'8" and my husband is 6'5")

It's comfortable for the baby (she loves being in it)

It's great-looking (I get a lot of compliments on it)

It's easy to steer even with one hand.

It's reasonably narrow so I rarely have a problem while shopping.

Even though the tires are not air, they have good shock absorption. Even on bumpy terrain, the baby is not bothered.

The full coverage canopy was great for protecting my preemie from sneezes and coughs while out shopping.

Great range for kid sizes. I plan to have this until she refuses to ride in a stroller any more!



Cons:

It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. It's well-designed and again, it's great that all the accessories come with it; you could pay a lot more to add the rain cover, sun screen, cup holder, snack tray, etc to other strollers.

Like most new mothers I fretted over which stroller to purchase. I did a ton of research. I found the book Baby Bargains very helpful in terms of selecting a stroller. Our criteria - we wanted something that had all the bells and whistles but was small and compact. We considered the Chicco and Graco travel systems. Both great but when we tried them in-store they seemed bulky and heavy. In addition, I wanted something more stylish. We looked at the Uppa Baby. A friend raved about it but at $500+ it was hard to justify purchasing. We actually tried the Zooper because the salesperson recommended it. It was smaller/more compact than the travel systems, had lot's great features, easy to open/close, good maneuverability, and most importantly - stylish. We've had the Zooper for nine months now and love it. It is a great stroller and we always get lot's of compliments on it. The one latch release to open the stroller is great. It's also easy to close. Sometimes when closing it catches on the brake set but I find that this is due to the front wheels not lined up. When closed the stroller is easy to handle as well. We used the Zooper with our Chicco carseat for the first four months. Fit great! Now that my son is old enough to sit in it he seems to like it. Easy to recline - a one latch release so you can take it to a sit position down to a full recline very easily. Also, the canopy shade is great - it is huge and provides great coverage. All of the extras like a foot cover, cup holder, tray, lot's of storage underneath. The stroller provides a smooth ride and is easy to maneuver. In a nutshell - I would highly recommend this stroller. It's worth every penny!

We love our Zooper stroller. For our older son we had an older model Zooper (he is now 6) (we went through a Graco Travel System and several umbrellas before we found Zooper) and I didn't want anything else for the next one. We still have the older Zooper and plan to use it for trips and such but wanted a newer one for everyday use. It is fantastic, easy to use, lightweight and comes with all the bells and whistles you usually have to pay extra for. The best features in comparison to other strollers of the same type are the cushy seat that makes naptime in strollers very easy, the extended canopy to completely block the sun if needed, the infant car seat compatibility, and bonus items (comes with a rain shield, sun shield, and winter boot). You can also convert the seat to a psuedo-bassinet when fully reclined by zipping up the foot rest. I can't say enough good things about this product which we loved 6 years ago and has only gotten better!
